We are excited to share with you that the interior framing is complete. That's right, things are really starting to take shape!
All of the major framework including structural beams, walls, ceilings, bathrooms, a new and improved staircase to the second floor and the coffee bar on the main floor have been framed out.
The original staircase (as you can see in the photo to the right) was very steep with short steps. The new staircase is much easier to use and we feel will serve our customers much better. Now that all is in place and approved, we are ready to move on to the next phase of development!
The building also got a breath of fresh air with the removal of the front facade, which revealed its true character and history that was established over 100 years ago. (See photo below.)
Taking down the old metal awning and wooden boards, we were able to appreciate the original window framing and brick work that was laid at the turn of the 20th century. Being the history nuts that we are, this was thrilling! We can only imagine the hard work and labor by our Garner ancestors that went into placing those first bricks.
We look forward to restoring more of the original beauty and personality of the old bank in weeks to come. Stay tuned for more pics of the soon-to-be cafe!
